The Metropolitan City of Turin/Torino with 2+ million inhabitants, includes, the regional capital/city, and a vast area of mountain territory: the Susa, Chisone and Pellice valleys, bordering France. While social inequalities, old and new, are largely concentrated in urban areas, the mountain areas have suffered for years from depopulation and difficulties in accessing services. These difficulties have been made more critical with the pandemic. Voices from Turin will share stories about the lived experiences of social inequalities particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and about the impact of policies on the health and lives of the different groups that live in this region. These include immigrants, women and young children, homeless people and others experiencing discrimination, isolation and stigmatization.
